KYLE MITCHELL A SUCCESS STORY

Kyle commenced karting at the age of 11, about 4 years behind his fellow competitors. My sole purpose for starting karting was to embark on a Formula 1 career.  I believe that it is time for another South African to win a Formula 1 title and put South Africa back on the map. The last was Jody Schecter in 1979 when he drove for Ferrari, now it is my turn. I read Michaels Schumacher Bibliography and ascertained that I needed to start in karting as did Jenson Button, Alonso, Fissichela, Barrichelo, and Ralph Schumacher. Kart Racing is recognised worldwide as both the kinder garden and university of motor sport and prepares racing drivers for Formula 1.

I got my first go kart in august 2001. I practiced that year and started racing in 2002. I left karts at the end of 2006 after wining the Junior Rok World championship at age 15 and becoming South Africa's first Junior world Champion. I moved on to Formula BMW Asia were I became the first South African  Junior Driver for BMW Motorsport Germany. I won the Rookie Championship and Gave my team there first title In 5 years of racing in Formula BMW Asia

Although my primary goal is to become South Africa's next Formula 1 champion, I would also like to setup the "Kyle Mitchell Motorsport Foundation" which will assist youngster like me in the struggle to attain their goals and dreams. After embarking on my career, I soon realised that no matter how much talent or will, one has it is impossible to achieve your dreams without support. Motorsport is unlike most other sports where one can aspire to becoming part of a team, although motorsport is a team sport the driver is a individual and it is this individual who has to pay to become part of the team unlike cricket or rugby. It is this support that the "Kyle Mitchell Motorsport Foundation" will offer to other youngsters who to, dream of becoming Formula 1 champions.
